What’s It Like to Be a LifeTech Learner?

At LifeTech Academy, learning goes far beyond textbooks and tests. It’s about discovering passions, exploring new ideas, and growing into confident, capable individuals who make a difference in their communities.

LifeTech learner Olivia Thomas shared what her experience has been like, and her story beautifully captures the heart of what makes this learning journey so special:

“My favorite thing about being a LifeTech learner is the flexibility of my schedule.”

That flexibility allows Olivia to design her days with balance and purpose, creating time for schoolwork, creativity, and the things she enjoys most.

“My favorite subject is English. One of my favorite hobbies outside of school is reading. I also like to do crafts and listen to music, both of which usually coincide with each other.”

Olivia is also using her time to make a positive impact through community involvement and service:

“One goal I am working towards this year is to become a bit more involved with the community, specifically through volunteering. I am starting to work on this goal by joining a volunteer program called Distant Hugs, in which you are paired with an elderly immigrant as your pen pal to swap letters with.”

Through opportunities like these, Olivia is building empathy, communication skills, and a stronger sense of connection, all while spreading kindness in creative ways.

“My favorite book series is Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger, and my favorite movies/shows are Pride and Prejudice (2005 version) and Attack on Titan.”

Learners like Olivia remind us that when education allows room for flexibility, passion, and purpose, the results can be truly inspiring.
