We reached out to many new and returning families in our community to learn what a typical day is like for them. LifeTech Parent Erin Towsley of Eaton Rapids has created a schedule that works well for her and her husband.

“We chose LifeTech because we wanted to have the freedom to structure our days according to our own needs,” Erin said. “We have the flexibility to take the afternoon off and go to fun places, like the zoo or a park. My husband works second shift so he wouldn’t see the kids if they went to public school except for the weekends.”

Erin empowers her children by giving them options at the beginning of the day.

“A day in the life for our family starts with breakfast. The kids wake up when they’re ready and get themselves breakfast. Then they choose which subject they want to work on,” Erin said.

Erin keeps her children on track by setting a goal to complete language arts and math every morning before they take a break for lunch. After lunch and some free time, they work on; electives, science and social studies.

“They work at their own pace and I move around helping them if they need help. Sometimes, if it’s a really fun project, all of the kids do it together. Then when they finish, they have free time again,” Erin said.

We appreciate the Towsley Family and their willingness to share their day in the life with us. After reviewing the entries we received it’s great to see how families structure their time and how each one has uniquely done so. Would you like to share what a typical school day is like with us?
