What’s your favorite part of this time of year? Is it the tasty themed treats, fun crafts or spooky movies? Whatever it is, we have a bunch of fun activities to make year’s festivities memorable for you and your family!
Halloween Movie Roulette
Everyone in the family picks their favorite Halloween Movie and you number them off then randomly pick a number to see which one you’re watching that night! Below I have a few of my family friendly favorites listed.
- Hocus Pocus
- It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
- Monster House
- Ghostbusters
- Return to Halloweentown
Make a Jack-o-lantern
Carving pumpkins and making jack-o-lanterns is a timeless halloween tradition and tons of fun! If your little one isn’t quite old enough to be carving, there is an easy alternative that just involves markers, scissors and orange paper! Whether you are carving your jack-o-lantern or crafting them, it will make for a festive decoration this spooky season. If you want to get really crafty with it, here are 43 Jack-o-lantern crafts for kids.
Candy Countdown Until Halloween
If you just can’t wait until Halloween, then this candy countdown is the perfect thing for you! Pick two or three of your favorite candies then use Saran Wrap and string/ribbon to create a countdown until the spookiest day of the year.
To make one, just lay out the length of Saran Wrap needed to wrap the needed number of candy. Then fold the wrap over rolling all the candies up in the middle. Finish it by tying ribbon/string in between every piece of candy. Every day leading up until Halloween, untie one piece of candy and cut off the excess Saran Wrap.

Bob for Apples
Bobbing for apples is a fun fall activity that can be really fun and kind of challenging. Making it a race is a really fun way to get competitive with it and make it more fun! You just need to fill a bucket or tub with water, then see who can get more apples out of the water in one minute. The trick… you can only use your mouth to pull the apples from the water. Have fun and good luck!
Make Fun Ghost Decorations
Getting crafty and making decorations for around the house is a great way to get into the holiday spirit! Here is a fun craft to make really cool Halloween hanging ghosts to make.
To make these all you need is paper, scissors, and black markers! It is so easy to make and the ghosts end up making for a really fun hanging decoration that can go up with a piece of string (can be substituted for dental floss) and some tape!

Print Out Fun Halloween Pictures to Color
A super fun and easy way to get festive is to print off fun Halloween coloring pages like these! This will keep younger learners busy and make a fun way to decorate the house.

Pin The Spider on The Web
This is a fun party game that will make Halloween even more fun for your kids! It is easy to set up, all you need to do is create a web to hang up, and each player could even draw their own spider! There are many different ways to play and set up this game, here is a really good example of how to make and play pin the spider on the web!

Halloween Creative Writing Activity
Give your child a fun Halloween writing prompt then read the stories together as a family. This is a really fun way to practice your learner’s writing skills in a fun and festive way. Below I have included a few ideas for fun prompts.
- Tell the story of halloween from the perspective of a piece of candy
- Write a witches potion recipe
- Tell a scary story
- If you could make your own monster, what would it look like? Sound like? Where does it live? How does it scare people? What are its halloween plans?
Hide and Seek – Ghost Edition
This game runs a lot like traditional hide and seek, except it comes with a twist. The person who is “it” is a ghost and they are searching out the other players to find them and make them ghosts too. Once you are found and turned into a ghost, you follow the person who is “it” around until the last person left alive wins. Then that person is seeking the ghosts hiding all around the house to bring them back to life. This cycle continues until you no longer feel like playing.
